[Official Trailer] OTHERLANDS: A Global Music Exploration • 9 months, 6 countries, in 2 minutes

NEW RECORD AVAILABLE! (https://www.caseydriessen.com/otherla...) In the fall of 2019, my wife, daughter, and I packed up our belongings and set out on an adventure we'd dreamed about. Guided by music and my fiddle, over the next nine months we visited six countries, and I documented these adventures for a self-produced project titled Otherlands: A Global Music Adventure. All along the way, I sought out local musicians with roots in their traditions to learn, share, and collaborate. By the time the coronavirus brought an end to our journey, we had been through Spain, Ireland, Scotland, India, Japan, and Finland. Twenty-five musical collaborations, including over thirty-five musicians, were documented and published—along with stories from each encounter, hundreds of photos, and Spotify inspiration playlists of local music. On April 23, 2021, an album titled Otherlands:ONE was released as a companion to the video pieces. Selections from each country are featured, and if one listens from start to finish, the audio journey unfolds by country, in the way I experienced it. Musical exchanges and travels are documented via audio, video and photography elements with collected materials released over the course of the project via his website and social media outlets and official musical releases likely to come at the end of travels. OTHERLANDS is an independently designed and produced project that is self-contained with a small collection of audio and video equipment. All engineering and recording, including any post-production, can be set up, operated, and completed by Casey wherever on the globe he happens to be.
