It’s no easy task to choose New Zealand’s best pie 🥧🏅 The Bakels NZ Supreme Pie Awards is the biggest food competition in the Southern Hemisphere. With over 5000 entries, some might even call this event the Pie-Olympics where top pies and their bakers are awarded bronze, silver, and gold. In the tasting round of the bigger categories such as the mince and cheese or steak and cheese, judges are tasting around 50 pies. Having eaten about 8 whole pies by the end of the day. Congratulations to Arlyn Thompson from Rangiora Bakery in North Canterbury who took out the 2024 Supreme Pie Award for her slow cooked Sumatra style beef pie. #supremepieaward #nzpies #bestpie #bakelsnz
