Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways Before we start we video sadly a few days prior to filming this video 1 of The Railway Preservation Pioneers is no longer with us as Wildlife & Railway Artist David Shepherd the man who saved 9f 92203 Black Prince & standard 4 75029 The Green Knight from the scrap man's torch in 1967 sadly past away. He will be sadly missed by all my deepest thoughts & condolences go out to his family. R.I.P David Shepherd gone but never forgotten. In this tribute video to David we are at our friends at The Severn Valley Railway for the return of their popular Autumn Steam Gala. The locomotives who were the guests for the popular event were Bluebell Railway based 323 Bluebell, M&GN's Y14 564 from The North Norfolk Railway & newly returned to service back in the summer North Yorkshire Moors Railway's ex Southern Schools class 926 Repton now fully restored into Southern Olive Green livery. We start at Kidderminster as we see pannier tank 7714 & 7812 Erlestoke Manor at the water. 7812 was waiting for 34053 Sir Keith Park to arrive which the bullied was completing its shift of running in the middle of the night. This gala was to be the last major appearance for both 7812 & 34053 before the pair leave the railway at the end of the 2017 season. 7812 heading to Tyseley for her fast track overhaul while 34053 returns to The Swanage Railway to see out the remaining 5 years of his boiler ticket. We board 7812's train for the trip up to Bewdley. When I arrived at Bewdley I left her train for the trip back to Kidderminster behind 323 Bluebell on 1 of the 4 locals trains that was running on this day. During the layover at Kidderminster we see 7714 depart & 564 arriving with 4 of the SVR's gresley teak stock creating a perfect combo. We travel back to Bewdley behind Bluebell this time with her being smoke box 1st. We leave Bluebell's train and board the J14 564 for the trip to Arley. Layover was made here during the layover 7812 departs for Kidderminster dragging 15xx tank 1501 with her. With 7812 & 1501 gone we see 564 run round ready for the local to Kidderminster. We rejoin her train for the trip back to Bewdley were we leave the train & see her head off to Kidderminster. Our next train we board is 926 Repton paired with the line's GWR stock. We travel all the way to Bridgnorth ready for the trip all the way back to Kidderminster. We see Repton run round to head off to the sheds to get serviced even seeing her shunt 2857 into the shed while 1450 arrives & departs with the auto train to Hampton Loade. After being serviced 926 Repton rejoins her train ready for the trip back to Kidderminster. The day started with a risk of a rain shower but fortunately the rain held off & by the time of my full length trip behind Repton the sun finally came out to finish off a great day. A brilliant Autumn Steam Gala after a year out back in 2016 to be renamed as The Pacific Power Event which involved both Flying Scotsman & Tornado its great to see the Autumn Steam Gala return with a bang. A big thanks to all the volunteers of The Severn Valley for putting on a spectacular event lets hope for more the same in 2018. Thanks for reading enjoy the film.
