Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 1 (1917 Final Version) : II. Andante ------------------------------------------------------- This is an experimental video where I play a piano concerto accompanied by the GPhil virtual orchestra app. Many thanks to ‪@VyacheslavGryaznovPiano‬ for providing feedback and showing me how to use the app. I have barely learned any piano concerti before, as I won't be playing with the Berlin Philharmonic any time soon as a hobby pianist. However, with this app, I can play and record "with orchestra" from the comfort of my living room with just a bluetooth pedal and headphones (or speakers). It was an interesting experience learning how to play with the virtual orchestra. Since it's pre-programmed, it was like a puzzle figuring out how to fit my interpretation to it while not sounding robotic. I recorded this by playing along with the app while listening on my headphones, then later syncing the raw GPhil audio files with my own recorded audio. There is also an option to record directly within GPhil and export the files, timings and all, which I figured out a day too late and would have saved me some hassle. The piano (NY Steinway D) sounds a bit different from the usual solo stuff since I mixed it to blend better with the orchestra. ------------------------------------------------------- "GPhil started as a personal obsession -- I wanted to perform concertos the way I heard them in my head, without waiting for an orchestra.
