The Peace Dictate of Trianon from a Breton Point of View

2020 marks the centenary of both the Treaty of Sèvres, as well as the Treaty of Trianon, both intended to redraw the map of Europe. While the former was not imposeable on the Ottoman Empire due to the resistence of Turks, the implementation of the latter had severe consequences for the Kingdom of Hungary, and created minority groups of around 3,5 million Hungarians. A decision that Breton journalist, and member of the Breton Cultural Institute, Mr. Philippe Argouarche, characterises as "an abberration", and a "trauma" that still has an impact on the everyday life of Europe, much like the French model of state building that was based on the "destruction of five cultures: Breton, Occitan, Alsatian, Corsican, and Flemish."
