In light of the O&L Group’s vision of becoming the most progressive and inspiring company, and reducing its carbon footprint by 20% by 2019, O&L subsidiaries’ O&L Energy/Organic Energy Solutions and Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) have embarked on a bush-thinning project to contribute in solving the bush encroachment challenge that Namibian farmers have been faced with for many years. The N$ 50 million biomass boiler investment converts invader-bush to heat energy which will replace 80 percent of the 3600 tonnes of Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) used at NBL’s operating plant in Windhoek. The biomass boiler and bush-thinning project is a result of breakthrough thinking that ultimately contributes to the O&L purpose of ‘Creating a future, Enhancing life” for all Namibians as well as the national sustainability agenda as outlined in the 5 pillars of the Harambee Prosperity Plan.
