Celebrating 250 years of Muthuswami Dikshitar #muthuswamidikshitar250 Nottuswaram-26 dAsharathE dIna dayAnidhE dAnava bhIkara dAmOdarA kEshava mAmava sItAdhava kEyUrahAra raghuvIrA kOmala pAdAbja kOdanDa rAmA shyAmala vigraha sampUrnakAmA nAma kIratnE sadAmOdA nArada vINAhlAdAhlAdA Join us on a musical journey as we commemorate the 250th birth centenary of one of the greatest composers of Carnatic music — Shri Muthuswami Dikshitar. In honor of this milestone, and this year being special in many ways, we both Archana and Aarathi, along with our students, inspired by Sangita Kalanidhi Shri T M Krishna’s rendition of Nottuswarams, come together to present a special Nottuswaram video series — a tribute to Dikshitar's timeless legacy. Apart from his colossal carnatic compositions, Dikshitar has composed beautiful samskrita sahityams to these captivating english tunes. We present these collections called the Nottuswarams. Though simple in structure, the Nottuswarams with their lilting melodies and Western-influenced charm, continue to captivate listeners across generations. Their catchy, breezy and elegant tunes have a universal appeal — easy on the ears, yet rich in tradition — making them especially delightful for young learners and seasoned rasikas alike. Once you hear one, you’re drawn into the world of Dikshitar’s genius, wanting to hear more and experience more. We envisioned this project with our students- Rakshitha, Nithyashree, Bhakti, Prakruthi, Aadhya and Mahathi, whose infectious enthusiasm and deep curiosity kept us inspired and reminded us why sharing these compositions mattered to us so deeply, making this journey joyful and meaningful. We have to thank our guru Sangita kalanidhi designate Shri R. K. Shriramkumar for his unwavering support throughout. His support and guidance is completely what we always cherish, honour and treasure. Our dear friends Sayee Rakshith on the violin, Praveen Sparsh on the mridangam, Sunil Kumar on the kanjira and S. krishna on the ghatam have sprinkled their creative sparkle on every note and in every Nottuswaram making them irresistibly catchy and full of life. Their effort in making the Nottuswarams more soulful cannot be missed by every ear that listens to these gems. Heartfelt gratitude to our dear musician friends, Vidhya Raghavan and Vignesh Ishwar, for their timely help during the course of the project. We are grateful to our awesome audio engineer, Mr. Biju James, whose keen ear and technical finesse has brought clarity and warmth to these compositions. We thank him for making the nottuswarams shine with so much grace. To the artists behind the lens- Kudos to the brilliant team of videographers from the video production house, Sarang Media- Mr. Nagarajan Chandrasekaran- Creative producer Mr. Deva- cinematography and direction Mr. Raj barath- associate cinematographer, Mr. Karunagaran and Mr. Sakthivel- assistants, for framing our music with such visual treat. Their creative eyes have turned each frame into a visual poetry. Endless gratitude to our parents, Shri Lakshminarayanan and Smt Bharathi Lakshminarayanan whose unwavering support, silent strength and constant encouragement carried us through this project. A huge thank you to our amazing sponsor, Mr. Mahesh Ramani, who is like family to us, not just in spirit but in every way that matters. Your support means the world to us. We are also incredibly grateful to Siddharth Venkataraman and Venkatesh Sridhar for their incredible help in helping bring this series to life. It’s been a true team effort, and we couldn’t have asked for better people to share this journey with. Last but not the least, we profusely thank the parents of these wonderful children especially Mr. Ramji, Mrs. Sangeetha Ramji, Mrs. Jana Venkataraman, Mrs. Aparna and Mr. Nanda kishore for being the quiet force behind the scenes and making everything flow seamlessly and smoothly. Stay tuned as we release each piece with devotion and gratitude, celebrating the genius of a true musical visionary.
