After being owned by PN (Pacific National) and in storage for many year's in Broken Hill NSW. PN generously decided to gift the S class to SRHC (Seymour Railway Heritage Centre). With the aid and help of SCT logistics, SRHC was able to get the S class ready for transport and attached to one of SCT's freight trains which transferred the loco from Broken Hill via Adelaide to SCT Logistics depo in Laverton Victoria where SRHC then organised one of their own trains to go to Laverton and collect S307 and return to Seymour where the S class will then under-go mechanical work and repaint ready for reactivation to be used on heritage train specials. S307 being 1 of 18 built between 1957 to 1961 The first order for 10 locomotives were progressively delivered between August 1957 and February 1958. The first four took the names and numbers of the recently scrapped S class steam locomotives, with all being named after prominent Victorians. An additional eight locomotives were ordered for use on the new North East standard gauge line and delivered between November 1960 and December 1961.
