PREMIERE: "Saxophone Sonata I" at Ernst Bloch Zentrum

What an unforgettable ride at the 3rd Biennale für Neue Musik! It was an incredible honor to perform at such a vibrant celebration of contemporary music, surrounded by a deeply engaged and open-minded audience. On the afternoon of February 11th, we took the stage at the Ernst Bloch Zentrum for the third concert of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mannheim composers’ class—part of the Winter Semester 2024/25 and the Biennale itself. I had the pleasure of premiering my Sonata for Tenor Saxophone and Piano, a piece I wrote last summer, and one that pushed me both creatively and technically. Rehearsals began almost a month in advance, and while some passages demanded serious work, the collaboration was nothing short of inspiring. Every rehearsal was a joy thanks to the incredible musicians I had the privilege to work with. Massive thanks to Kotomi Inaba and Jonas Neubauer — not only for their brilliant performances but for being such supportive, thoughtful, and committed collaborators.
