Ondo 2024 Budget Passes with Increase: The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed the 2024 appropriation bill into law, increasing the budget proposal by over 10.7 billion naira. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa initially presented a budget proposal of 385 billion naira, comprising N222.25 billion for capital expenditure and N172.99 billion for recurrent expenditure. However, the Assembly passed a revised budget of 395.25 billion naira after adopting the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation. The committee chairman, Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, explained that the increase was informed by discussions with ministries, departments, and agencies. He called on the executive to sustain and improve internally generated revenue to meet people's needs. Southwest Governors Pledge Befitting Burial for Akeredolu: Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has pledged the commitment of the Southwest Governors Forum to ensure a befitting burial for the late Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu. Governor Abiodun made the announcement in Ibadan after commiserating with Akeredolu's wife and family at his Jericho private residence. Plans are underway to establish a committee that will oversee the arrangements for the state burial, and the Southwest Governors Forum intends to honor Akeredolu with the respect and dignity he deserves.
