The 2nd part of our Tatuaje Black Petite Lancero review. We're talking Tatuaje. Specifically, Tatuaje BLACK - Pete Johnson's own personal blend. The Original Tatuaje Black (Corona Gorda) was released in 2007, four years after the companies inception. Hands down, it was and still is Tatuaje's most famous release. In celebration of the companies 10th year in business, the now nearly legendary cigar has been re-released in its original, Corona Gorda format. Like the original, 19 cigars donned in black bands have been bundled in a black jar. The similarities are obvious. However, there are many apparent differences, including the fact that no matter how you sell it, this isn't the original Black. It's the original blend, but like the 15 other productions of the cigar between the original release and the newest, different crop, different year... Those few but highly volatile differences can make or break a blend, no matter how amazing it used to be. Of all the re-productions after the original, it has been said that none have truly stood up to Black #1. So the question remains: "Will this new release hold up to the mythos and lure surrounding the release on which this cigar is based?" We shall see... But we're leaving that for when we review the actual Black #17. In light of this highly anticipated cigar, we wanted to reacquaint our viewers with the blend and it's history. For this purpose, we've taken the Black Petite Lancero, released in 2011. And for good reason too... First, this release is less than 3 years old, so aging will not have affected it so much as to make it an unfair comparison. Second, this release happens to be one of the most highly rated next to the original. Since we don't have the original, we figured the most raved about should suffice. In essence, if the new release doesn't hold up to our findings here, then it's obviously short of the original... So let's see what we find. Personally, from experience, the Petite Lancero happens to be one of, if not my overall favorite version of the blend. As powerful and full-flavored as the Black Blend is, this smaller format seems to me just the right size to really show off the personality and nuances of the overall flavor and aroma of the Black. So kick back, relax, light up and smoke with us as we review another cigar on The Dr Joe Show - "Pure Cigar Entertainment!"
