I've covered this in my Top 10 Tips and Tricks video, as well as one of my very first rust videos, but I thought I would go over it again and remind you all how to steal someones base with a little bit of wood and some determination Now imagine this scenario. It's early wipe day, you have a little bit of gear but no base. You come across another player's 2x1 and discover it has a wooden door and a keylock, you decide you want to get inside. You could sit there and wait for the owner to come out and pop him in the head, you could get enough materials for some hatchets or spears and trying to raid his door... or, for just a little bit of wood and some persistence, you can walk right through the front door like you owned the place! The first thing you want to do is find a quiet little bush to hide in, then grab your hatchet and start chopping those trees. Yes, you could build your own base with the materials you gather, but where's the fun in that? Craft yourself a small box and a keylock, plonk your box down in your bush and put the keylock on the box. You should put the contents of your inventory in the box because you're going to need the space. Keeping your second hotbar slot free, right click the key lock, create a key, unlock your box and remove the keylock. This will throw the keylock into your hotbar slot number two, an easy to reach number above your W key, and put a key in your inventory. Repeat these steps until you have a full inventory of keys. Once your inventory is full of keys, head back to the base you want to take over being careful not to encounter its occupants on the way, and try to open the door. With any luck, you will open the door on the first try. If not, dump the keys and start again. Once you get inside, check the boxes for a key, and if you find one dump all of your keys inside, then grab that key and use it to unlock the door and create your own key. This means that should the owner of the base return, he won't be able to use any stashed keys he may have outside to get in. Make sure to remove any sleeping backs and craft yourself a codelock as soon as possible Congratulations, the base is now yours! Once you've taken over that base, head to the next!
