I took my sister Wendy on a trip to visit Whitby Museum. Before we went there we had a look around the harbour and went onto the beach to see what we could find. The reason to visit Whitby Museum was mainly to see the model of the ship HM Bark The Endeavour. The real ship was originally a collier or coal hauling ship, called The Earl of Pembroke. I'm interested in this as my Dad was a miner and I wanted my next model ship to be a collier. So our visit was really a research trip for my next cardboard ship! The staff at the museum couldn't have been more helpful or interested. Thank you so much to them all. I really appreciated being allowed to film the model and let you all have a look inside the museum too. Before we got to the museum we went down onto the little beach to see what we could find and had lunch after a walk through town. We had a look inside a beautiful Jet Museum which is housed inside a renovated Wesleyan Chapel. I was kindly allowed to film inside there too and there's the touching story about a box of collected jet. We had a really lovely day and I hope you enjoy coming along with us too.... One last thing is that I say in the film that the Royal Society bought the ship for refitting, however I think it was actually the Navy who bought it on their behalf. Apologies for the quiet part inside the jet museum. After I uploaded the video You-tube took the sound off as there was a song playing on the film in the background which they said wasn't allowed. They have edited most of it out but also took what I was saying too unfortunately. Here are links to both of the museums, to Ann Wood and also to some information on The Endeavor.
