Railfanning 4/14-15/2023 Copyright Conrail Chicago Line Productions Now that the merger between Kansas City Southern and Canadian Pacific is complete it was time to document the first couple days of the new railroad around the Kansas City area. Got word a BNSF run through coal train to the CPKC would have a cream & green MAC leading so that was the first thing I set out for. Also caught the now former KCS business train with the A-B-A Southern Belle F Units later in the day! Enjoy! 4/14 Kansas City, MO 1. CPKC 2CKCSH southbound on the KCT bluff track at 12th and 23rd streets with Cream & Green MAC 9650 leading! Kansas City, KS 1. CPKC YKC108 entering Union Pacific's 18th street yard with a pair of Belle MACs. 2. KCT mill street switch job with their GP35 duo aka the Bananas! Grandview, MO 1. CPKC GJVSIJ southbound. Belton, MO 1. CPKC 2CKCSH southbound. Train stopped at IFG to add 2 extra DPUs. 2. CPKC GJVSIJ southbound once again. Grandview, MO 1. CPKC BKCSH southbound. This is now the former KCS Business train heading home to Shreveport, LA. Kansas City, MO 1. KCT Y505 northbound. 2. CPKC M261 northbound. 3. UP northbound ethanol empty on the UP Coffeyville sub. 4. CPKC switch job switching Cargill with KCS 4349! 5. NS - CPKC transfer westbound with a NS rebuild and M261 yarding its train. 6. CPKC west end switch job with a pair of CP GPs. 4/15 Railfanned around Knoche and the east side of Kansas City from mid morning through the mid afternoon looking for more CPKC action and had some success. Also caught some UP trains as well. Wanted to hang around until sunset but the rains moved in and CPKC traffic was dwindling so I called it and made my way back to the east side of the show me state. I did happen to run across M258 at Odessa, MO on my way out of town so that was a good icing on the cake. Enjoy! Kansas City, MO 1. CP and KCS power sitting at the west end of Knoche. 2. Odessa, MO 1. CPKC M258 eastbound with 2 of the now former KCS business train cars at the rear. Word is they're heading to metro east industries in E.
