Please listen with headphones / earplugs for better experience. Sharing a song that is so simple, and yet so evocative. The composer, Muttusvami Dikshitar, venerates the coronated king of Ayodhya, Sri Rama, and seeks his protection. The composition goes on to describe Rama's tender leaf-like feet, lotus-like eyes, his praise sung by sages like Atri, Vasishta and others and his majestic posture with Sita by his side in a gem-studded royal pavilion. "Oh Rama! You who are known for your unblemished character, an heir of the Sun dynasty, ruler of this whole world, may victory be yours!", he says. While one can try and translate the words from Samskrta to English, I fall short of them to convey its true essence. How do I explain what "Kalyana Rama" really means apart from saying "auspicious Rama"? I hope the music is able to bring meaning to the song even if language is a barrier.
