M Atallah discusses FMF poster

Michelle Atallah, Clinical Research Associate at Nodality Inc. recently talked to Rare Disease Report about the undergraduate research project she conducted at Yale University in collaboration with the University of Athens. Michelle examined pyrin location in Familial Mediterranean Fever during integrin-mediated neutrophil migration. Familial Mediterranean Fever is a rare inflammatory disorder that is mostly concentrated in people of Mediterranean origin (e.g., Sephardic Jews, Arabs, Italians, Armenians and Turks). But it may affect any ethnic group. Symptoms of Familial Mediterranean Fever include recurrent fevers and painful inflammation in abdomen, lungs and/or joints. Currently, there is no cure for this disorder but colchicine is often prescribed to reduce or prevent symptoms.
