Tasing exhorts community people to unite in crisis. By Prafulla Kaman PASIGHAT, 02 March: The state’s Rural Development and Panchayatiraj Minister, Ojing Tasing has called on Adi and Mising community people to cherish a true sense of unity brotherhood and work for building a better coordination at the time of crisis. Attending the 8th Ali-Aye-Ligang festival organized by Adi Mising Bane Kebang (AMBK) at Pasighat Gidi Notko (festival ground) on Monday, Tasing said the unity and brotherhood is not confined to cultural exchange and community festivals. He said that the people of both communities should work for better understanding and closer coordination to mitigate any crisis pertaining to inter-state issues. Tasing said that community festival is the way of worship nature through showcasing their living traditions and ancestral beliefs. He urged the organizers to keep their efforts to show their culture-based ethnic identity before other communities of the nation. Stating that the state government is working for amicable solution of the vexed inter-state boundary problems with Assam, he appealed to the AMBK leaders to play pro-active role to ease the effort at their belts. The minister observes that there is a little change in the traditional attires of Mising community living in the region, said the change was influenced by fusion with Srimanta Sankardev created 'Vaishnavite culture' of Assam. He has appealed to the Mising Bane Kebang to hold consensus in this regard and encourage the growing youths to wear ancient Adi-Mising dresses during festivities. The minister earlier inaugurated the two-day festive programme by hoisting the Ligang flag, which was followed by Taku-Tabat (ritual) and briefing the mythology behind Ali-Aye-Ligang celebration. Among others, Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering, former MLA Tatung Jamoh, former chief information commissioner (APIC) Nanom Jamoh, East Siang ZPC Ruth Tabing Boko, Arunachal Pradesh Forest Corporation chairman Nalong Mize, and chief of Mising Autonomous Council (Assam) Paramananda Chayengia (Pangging) besides eminent citizens of Adi tribes and Mising community organizations leaders attended the inaugural day programme. The concluding day programme on Tuesday includes cultural exchange of traditional dances of both communities, fashion show, and musical night.
