As “The End”, Joshua Oppenheimer’s first fiction feature, arrives in Italian cinemas on July 3rd, 2025, FRED Film Radio meets George MacKay for an exclusive interview held in the Sicilian salt mine where the film was shot—thanks to a special initiative by I Wonder Pictures, the film’s Italian distributor. Starring alongside Tilda Swinton and Michael Shannon, MacKay plays the son in a family of three living in isolation 25 years after Earth’s environmental collapse. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, The End delves into generational tension, climate crisis, and the fragility of hope under extreme conditions.
