Fly Fishing for Big Rainbow And Brown Trout at Ardare Springs, Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. Conditions in the morning were blustery with a gusty westerly wind whick put a nice ripple on the lake. In the morning I fished a dry fly and picked up small brownie and a rainbow in the space of half an hour. Temperature in the afternoon dropped and the wind picked up and the fish were no longer feeding on the surface so I changed to intermediate line and a black lure. Landed two fish after lunch on a lure so decided to get the GoPro's and got the last two fish on Video. A nice big Rainbow and a bruiser of a Brownie both fought like stink. At the end you'll see that I stripped a lure into shallow water next to the bank and saw that nothing was following... went to get some line back on the reel to move spot and the rod bent over! Gutted I lost that one!
