At Aegir’s Den Meadery in Palermo, Maine, owners Mark and Carrie Mancini have created a welcoming mead hall rooted in family, local agriculture, and old-world craft. Using only raw Maine honey - never sourced from out of state - they produce a wide range of meads, from traditional honey ferments to fruit meads, herbal blends, hot pepper infusions and more. Visitors to Aegir’s Den are greeted with warm hospitality, guided tastings, and an immersive space that feels far larger and more magical than its humble exterior suggests. On weekends they serve rotating farm-to-table meals, sourcing from more than 50 local farms each year. Guests can sip mead, enjoy a three-course dinner, and even visit the farm animals - including Highland cattle, pigs, and their livestock guardian dog. As the largest meadery in Maine, Aegir’s Den champions creativity and tradition in equal measure, proving there are endless ways to explore flavor through honey. You can find their meads at beverage centers and natural food stores around the state, at select tasting rooms, and of course, right at their Palermo mead hall.
