INGV | Our Planet From Space (SPACE WEATHER)

"The 2022 European Expo-Forum on the New Space Economy (NSE, https://www.nseexpoforum.com/) was attended by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV). The event was entirely dedicated to the potential of the space economy with the aim to involve all those interested in this new ecosystem stimulating new collaborations and highlight the already existing possibilities. This year, the participation of the INGV at NSE has been coordinated by the Institute's new Earth Space Observation Center (COS-INGV), created with the aim of linking and planning the activities of the Institute in the Space and Aerospace. This video describes the INGV activities carried out in the framework of Space Weather, a new discipline that studies the effects of perturbations coming from the Sun on human technologies and infrastructures (for example: radio and GNSS communications, satellites equipment and power networks). INGV manages ionospheric and geomagnetic observatories in Italy and abroad and contributes to the PECASUS consortium, one of the four service centers that provide space weather alerts during storms, sponsored by the international civil aviation organization (ICAO).
