In Episode 4 — the final chapter of the Workbench Series — I complete the bench with a set of functional and refined accessories inspired by the traditions of violin makers, whose deep respect for tools has long influenced workshop craftsmanship. Using offcuts from the original solid beech worktop, I begin by crafting custom wooden hold-down clamps, followed by a custom set of bench dogs made using seamless steel and beech components for strength, precision, and durability. These additions are designed to make the workbench not only more capable, but also more personal to the way I work. The episode concludes with the creation of a luxury leather-lined chisel drawer, featuring custom sycamore cradles designed to protect and display a new set of Narex Richter Bevel Edge chisels. Alongside this, I also create additional custom storage solutions for other drawers within the workbench, improving organisation while maintaining the same focus on materials, layout, and long-term usability. Careful attention is given to every detail to create storage that reflects both craftsmanship and longevity — a small tribute to the tradition of craftsmen who honour their tools as part of the craft itself. Design inspiration for the hold-down clamps and bench dogs is based on concepts developed by Paoson Woodworking.
