Welcome to our garden! 🌺 Today’s video is a special mother–daughter project. Sophia starts by introducing the video and then helps film while I show you how to harvest Roselle Hibiscus calyxes — the part of the plant used to make delicious hibiscus tea. 👉 What you’ll see in this video: • Sophia’s warm introduction and camera work 🎥 • How to identify the Roselle Hibiscus plant and calyx • Step-by-step harvesting with garden pruners ✂️ • Collecting calyxes in a teal kitchen pitcher (yes, the one we usually use for pancake mix!) • Important safety tip: Always check inside calyxes before eating or harvesting. When my son Jovanny opened one, there was a spider hiding inside 🕷️ — so be careful and always clean them thoroughly. • How we used the rain 🌧️ to naturally cleanse the calyxes outside before bringing them indoors to dry and prepare for tea. We have several Roselle Hibiscus plants around our home, but in this video, we harvested from three growing behind Sophia’s swings. After it started raining, Sophia went inside, and I left the teal pitcher outside to soak. Rainwater helps rinse the calyxes and can flush out any bugs before bringing them inside.
