Fear Factory is my all-time favorite band and Self Bias Resistor might be my favorite song of theirs. This is from their album Demanufacture which was released in 1995. The lyrics may be part of a concept about an epic struggle between man and machine, but they also just seem super positive and uplifting if you remove that concept and look at them as a way to pump yourself up for something challenging. Guitar and bass tones were all done with JST Toneforge Disruptor. I was not paid to make this video, but I did receive a free copy of the plugin to assist with its development. I may be slightly biased, but this plugin is a lot of fun for a Dino Cazares or Fear Factory fan. Guitar signal chain: -Solar A1.8C -Direct Box -Interface -Disruptor (Roboticist 5 Preset) -Master Bus Bass signal chain: -Fender Jazz 5 string -Direct box -Interface -Disruptor (Fender Mexi-Jazz Growl Preset) -Master Bus Get these tones here: https://rb.gy/rlwnl As stated in the video, I did not play the drum parts for this recording. I programmed them. The drum pedal shots are me managing to not royally f8ck up just long enough to make the shot work. I’m still working on my double bass technique, but I figured these shots would be more fun to look at than a piano roll. You’re welcome. Drum sounds are a mixture of the Drumforge Classic sampler and a blend of kick samples from Kickforge. This is my first time putting clean vocals out into the world like this. I tried to emulate the vocal effects used on Burton C. Bell’s voice but I think I ended up somewhere closer to Depeche Mode. Now I want to do a Depeche Mode song. Clean vocals are stacked, tuned, edited, and saturated with various doubling and spatial FX.
