Montgomery County, North Carolina, is a small, rural community, 60 miles east of Charlotte and 80 miles southwest of Raleigh. Home to the Uwharrie National Forest, and the Town Creek Indian Mound, the county has five small towns and lots of rural farmland. The western border of the county includes Badin Lake (northwest border) the Yadkin River, which becomes the Pee Dee River once the Yadkin and Uwharrie Rivers meet, feeds into Lake Tillery with Blewett Falls Lake on the southwestern tip of the county. This silent movie appears to be random footage filmed around the county, starting with the newspaper based in Troy, the Montgomery Herald. The video highlights various businesses and local people going about their everyday lives. The footage includes footage of kids getting out of school and various businesses in town. It is clearly a glimpse into small-town life as the country was beginning to pull out of the Great Depression of 1933.
