Setting Up A Small Horse Jump Course At Home

Please subscribe to my channel for many different videos on building jumps, and lots of DIY projects!    / @budgetequestrian   This is a set of jumps I made while the weather was not great for riding, and while my horse was (is recovering from an injury to his leg (you can see him in the video near the end with his big bandage on his back leg....no jumping for a while :( ...) I wanted to create a set of jumps that would be colorful, and easy to move which is why I used schooling standards instead of creating wing standards. I also used mostly 8' rails. There is one jump that is 10', it is the green gate with a white rail. I put this one in to see if you would notice a difference in the size of the jump. I wanted to see if it would make the 8' rails seems small, and guess what, it didn't! For this course, I drew out how I wanted the course to be first. I created changes of direction, some tight turns, and one straight line. With my riding area being small I do not have the space to set up a course of 12 jumps, but by being creative, I can jump the course utilizing one or more jumps, and jump them in both directions. So for this set of 6 jumps there are 7 obstacles to jump over. If you wanted to recreate this course for yourself, this is what you will need: 7 pair of standards 14 rails 1 gate 3 pair of raised rails 12 pair of jump cups The 10 ft gate that I made was the super inexpensive to make because I used left over 2 x 4's, and fence pickets to create the gate, so I believe the total cost for the gate was about $10.00! The total cost to build this set of jumps including paint, screws, and everything you would need to make this set was $350.00. If you were to buy a set like this from a manufacture, it would probably cost you from $2400-3000, depending on what pieces you would buy. AND you will also have to pay the freight charge to have them delivered, so tack on an extra $800 to $1000 to that original cost. So if you build it yourself, you could do it for about 15% of what it would cost you to buy a set. Yes, the set you buy would be ready to go, but if you have looked into getting jumps, it takes about 6 weeks to get your jumps after you have paid for them, so why spend your time waiting? Make your own jumps! They will be ready faster, and they will be stronger, and awesome quality! And if you have 3000 to spend on jumps, email me, I will build them for you! I have this course and many other courses laid out in the book I have written: Building Your Own Jumps And Jump Courses At Home you can purchase it on Amazon if you would like to make your own jumps and have different ideas for courses: https://www.amazon.com/Building-Your-...
