Sphinx Mountain in Montana is a 10,840' peak in the Madison Range. The summit is a 12.2 mile round trip climb past the other prominent mountain, the Helmet. The route gains a bit less than 5,000' on the way to the peak and is located in a very dense bear area. I did this adventure with the Bozeman Run Club. Every Saturday the Bozeman Run Club finds an adventure on a trail and goes for it. All levels of hikers, runners, and walkers show up and we get can all choose how far to go.
