Ken and Dee Dee continue to work together to answer the question, "Are you capable of riding a green horse?" DeeDee is still a little unsure. Ken still believes if you have a purpose and a plan, and you have experience riding broke horses, you are more than capable. Tips for Continuing on to the Second Ride: Do a simple review of what was learned in the first session. You can move through quickly, but make sure there aren't issues along the way. If the horse remembers, there's no need to drill, just move on. Start asking for more movement. When you ask for the head to soften, make sure the feet follow before you release. Have a plan for different scenarios in your mind before they actually happen. When starting to ask for a trot, also practice shutting it down. You can turn the horse's head toward the wall if she does not respond to your stop cue. Shutting the trot down will build your confidence. Until next time, may God bless the trails you ride!
