The 5th week of the big phase of work with the team. The week started with the installation of all the wooden beams. Once installed, the team worked on the alignment and connections to the wall. When that was finished they could place the hollow brick tiles on top. These were cemented together and trimmed at the wall edges. Rebar mesh was then put in place for strengthening concrete that will go on top. The new space therefore has a (safe) floor for the first time in a long while. The digger was also back in action for some tidying and hole digging. This enabled concrete to be added as an outside foundation where the old septic tank used to be. While the team worked on the floor, I worked on lowering the floor level in a back room. This involved removing rock by hand and turning the space into a quarry. Some of the rocks removed were immediately used by the team for the walls in the new space. I also did some gardening work at the church in preparation for the Easter service. And I filled in some holes I had made at the back of the house a few months earlier. - - - - chapters - - - - 00:00 intro 00:30 wood beams 01:36 digger 02:17 beams & digger 03:18 quarry intro 04:36 beams-quarry 05:45 final beams 06:56 digging 07:20 wall work 08:11 more rocks 08:41 day 2 09:41 truck 10:31 church garden 12:00 wall work 2 12:35 concrete 13:44 stones 14:52 gardening 2 16:03 day 3 16:22 floor install 18:09 quarry 19:11 tile flow 20:22 digging 20:43 big rock 22:11 day 4 23:25 cement 24:37 rebar 25:04 prep & tidy 25:57 outro - - - - about my channel and its videos - - - - My channel is about the renovation and restoration of an old stone house on a hill in Catalunya (North East of Spain). The house is near the Costa Brava and has magnificent views of the forest around it and the Mediterranean Sea. The house has many beautiful old features, including its stone walls, vaulted ceilings, ancient terracotta tiles and many quirky parts added over the centuries. At the moment, I am working on the house on my own as I try to turn it into a dream home in harmony with the nature and culture that surrounds it. The house is not in France or Italy and is not a Chateau or Cabin, but I watch and am inspired by channels that are. Especially Martijn Doolaard and Dan Preston's Escape to Rural France. I love Martijn's style, philosophy and cinematography and Dan's energy, humour and ambition. I'm trying to include some of these attributes in my videos.
