February 11th: International Day for Women and Girls in Science "To conserve means to keep; to protect from damage." But how can girls protect what they don't know exists? In Gombe State, Nigeria, ASESD is changing that narrative. In celebration of Women and Girls in Science Day, we took conservation education directly to the classroom; introducing female students to careers they never knew were possible. The Reality: → Most students in rural Nigeria have never heard of conservation biology → Girls are often steered toward traditional careers like nursing, rarely ecology → Yet Nigeria's biodiversity desperately needs the next generation of female scientists The Celebration: On this International Day for Women and Girls in Science, we're breaking barriers.
