Established in the late 19th century, it was named after Sir Matthew Nathan, Governor of Hong Kong from 1904 to 1907. Historically, Nathan Road was the first major thoroughfare in Kowloon and quickly became a hub for commerce, connecting residential neighborhoods with markets, theaters, and shops. Today, it remains one of Hong Kong’s busiest streets, lined with a mix of historic buildings, high-rise offices, neon signs, and modern shopping centers, reflecting the city’s unique blend of old and new.
