My top 5 running drills to help stay injury free and improve your form!!!!!

Welcome back – it's Week 1 of the Build Back! After some time off structured training, I'm diving headfirst into a new training block with just under a month until race one… and only three months until the Gold Coast Marathon – my first real fitness test of the year. It’s on. In this episode, I’m taking you along for the ride as I kick off my return to fitness with a track-style fartlek threshold session: ✅ 7 x 2-minute efforts ✅ 1-minute float recovery ✅ Focused on smooth transitions and consistent pacing (with a few pacing hiccups along the way ). But before any of that – it’s drills time. I’ll show you the 5 essential pre-run drills I now do every single week. These are the game-changers I learned from high-performance coaches – and yep, they’re one of the biggest differences between the pros and the rest of us. Whether you're just starting or have years of miles in your legs, doing the right drills can help you run smoother, reduce injury risk, and improve form. I break each one down step-by-step so you can start using them today. I also share: My current warm-up shoe of choice the Nike Vemero 18. A sneak peek at my next running-themed art piece (guess who the shoe belongs to in the comments!) A chat about accommodation tips for Sydney Marathon. The joy of putting on fast shoes, even if the fitness isn’t quite there yet. This week was messy. Pacing was erratic, the track was wet, and the fitness isn’t where it used to be. But honestly? It felt so good to just be back out there doing the work again. That’s the fun part. That’s the journey. This is exactly what I mean when I say “we’re just getting started.” No matter what level you’re at – 5K beginner, trail runner, half marathoner, or marathon chaser – this series is here to show you what realistic training looks like.
