Curator, writer, and cultural historian TK Smith will offer insight into his interdisciplinary approach to curatorial practice, community building, and culture work. This lecture seeks to expand the tools and methods curators use in their work, whether in a museum, an archive, or a specific community. Run Mourner, Run will focus specifically on the critical tools offered by grief mediation as an essential component of culture work. By addressing death, grief, and longing, curators have the potential to offer space and support for artists and communities to express and process individual and collective grief.  Museum Studies, Southern Studies, and the Department of Art and Art History sponsor this lecture.
