The data mining wizard will do a lot for you, but maybe you want to do a little more granular thing. It's very simple if you have data like we have here or data like we have over here. You can select any 3 columns, and then click on the PivotTable Wizard; it will summarize all of that data by date. You can see we have a grand total of lost time in minutes. So, if we have all of that, we could take that data and turn that into a performance chart. This will give us lost time by day. You can see this is pretty wildly out of control; this isn't real data, but we can come back into our lost time analysis, and here we have our type of failures. We've some lost time here. We can take that data and go in and create a Pareto Chart lost time by failure type, and here we can see the generator failure is 2/3 of our total failures. Now, we're ready to start doing cause analysis. We can take this big bar, turn it into the problem statement for our fish bone, and we're ready to go forward and start solving problems. The PivotTable Wizard will help you do things like that if we take this data which we used in the data mining example and say PivotTable Wizard. It'll summarize them by date, by type, and so on. If we wanted to guess what we could change, we could turn off the dates (we might want to move defects over here), and we could take line and put line into the top. You just drag and drop things into the PivotTable and the PivotTable will expand and summarize things just about any way you want. Here we have Biden line, we have all of our various types of errors. We could actually select all of that and in ChartSmart choose Pareto Chart, and it will summarize those by a number of bars. But it's going to produce Pareto Charts by line of all those types of defects. Here we have by Line 1, what's Line 1’s big problem: bent damaged flaps and carton will not open. Line 2: bent damaged carton will not open. Line 3: (as we've seen before) folded flaps and grand total we see folded flaps, bent and damaged, carton will not open. The data mining wizard and the PivotTable Wizard will help us start to really summarize data and drill down, so we can use the PivotTable Wizard to be a little more granular if we want to in order to adjust things and look around and do a little deeper dive. That's the essence of how to use the PivotTable Wizard in ChartSmartXL.
