Hi, In this second video of this series, I will continue with the complete development of the V-shell mixing vessel. This time, we will work on the trunnion shaft and the reinforcement plates. You can check the previous video in this series, where I developed the mixing vessel itself. Having a main vessel with an outer diameter of 600 mm, this means that the inner diameter of the gusset plates will also be 600 mm. Let us also assume that the gusset plates are 8 mm thick. The shafts are made of hollow pipe and are designed to have solid ends welded on for the bearings. I will be using the two-diameter oblique Tee pattern. I will be using the same main vessel dimensions, but I am considering them as internal dimensions, since the gusset plate needs to be bent to a 600 mm internal diameter. For this reason, I will obtain the reinforcement plates by creating the development of an auxiliary pipe with a 600 mm internal diameter and 8 mm thickness. I only need the shaft development and the shape of the “hole” from this auxiliary development; the rest will be discarded. IMPORTANT: before generating the pattern, we need to verify that the settings are correct: • Complete Guide to Selecting the Right Sett... The parameters: D1: 600 H: 1600 T1: 12 D3: 140 L: 674 H1: 995 dtY: 0 A: 49 T: 8 This process needs to be run twice: first, to generate a wrap-around paper template for the shaft, since it will be cut from an existing pipe second, for the reinforcement plate, since it will be cut from flat sheet metal and later curved to an internal diameter of 600 mm You can check a video on more information about wrap-around paper templates and why it is sometimes necessary to run a pattern twice: • Sheet metal tips (4) how to draw a TEE bra... Note: the selected pipe sizes, pipe thicknesses, and sheet metal thicknesses are based on my local material availability. In a separate video, I will show an alternative method to calculate a reinforcement plate. Thanks for watching!
