Nella Cava di Baulì, nascosti tra una lussureggiante e quasi impenetrabile vegetazione, in un ambiente umidissimo da foresta amazzonica, esistono dei luoghi magici quasi sconosciuti dove un tempo vivevano antiche popolazioni rupestri: i Ddieri di Baulì. Il termine Ddieri probabilmente deriva dall'arabo e sta ad indicare casa o stanza, sono in pratica degli ambienti rupestri scavati nella tenera roccia calcarea degli iblei, roccia che caratterizza tutti i canyon dell'entroterra siracusano. L'immaginario rende affascinante l'esplorazione di questi ambienti abitati in tempi non molto lontani ad iniziare da popolazioni bizantine. Oggi queste preziose testimonianze andrebbero tutelate e valorizzate! The term Ddieri probably derives from Arabic and means house or room. These cave dwellings are essentially dwellings carved into the soft limestone of the Hyblean Mountains, a rock that characterizes all the canyons of the Syracuse hinterland. The immagination makes the exploring of these dwellings very fascinating, as they were inhabited in remote times not so far, beginning with the Byzantines.
