Temptation is the desire to do something, especially something wrong or unwise. the wish to do or have something that you know you should not do or have. something that allures, excites, and seduces someone. an enticement to sin or to go against what God desires for us. The Three (3) Channels of Temptation: (1 John 2:16) 1. The Lust of the Flesh. [Source of Temptation: The Flesh] The lust of the flesh preys on our physical appetites and their gratifications in this world. Galatians 5:16-17 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Galatians 5:19-21: The Works of the Flesh: 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Dissensions: disagreement that leads to discord. “Disagreement can actually be healthy as long as we’re dealing with conflicting ideas, not conflicting people.” ― Kenneth H. Blanchard. Revelry: In Romans 13:13 the Revised Version has "reveling" instead of the King James Version "rioting," and in 2 Peter 2:13, "revel" replaces "riot." Similarly in Amos 6:7, "revelry" replaces "banquet." The obvious meaning of the word is excessive and boisterous intemperance and lustful indulgence. Philippians 4:5 Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
