Aalto Wineries I A combination of design and energy saving

The winery we present was included in the list of the 100 best wineries in the world according to Michel Bettane and Thierry Dessauve (“list of the world’s 100 best wine producers” 2006). The design is inspired by the famous Finnish architect and designer Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto (1898-1976). Alvar Aalto was one of the main drivers of the Modern Movement of the 20th century. In his works Alvar Aalto sought to share nature, the sun and the air, knotting human needs to create a multisensory architecture, where the materials helped to give satisfaction to the human being apart of being also passionate about good wine. The Aalto winery is located in the municipality of Quintanilla de Arriba (Valladolid), is located at 840 meters above sea level. It has a semi-arid cold climate, with some influence of the temperate type climate without dry season and warm summer. The average annual temperature is around 12.2ºC. In winter the temperature reaches -0.2ºC while in summer it reaches 28.7ºC. It is an area that has average annual rainfall of 431 mm.
