It strengthens the finish against normal wear and can double the life expectancy compared to normal water or oil based finishes to minimize the need to re-coat the floor. Its fairly scratch resistant and extremely easy to keep clean. Since it is coat after coat on TOP of the wood, it completely protects the floor from spills and staining. There is also no need to wax or oil this floor in anyway since it is permanently sealed. Oil finish floors have a finish that penetrates the wood from the inside out, protecting the wood against spills and dirt much like a finish on an outside deck. Scuff marks and hair line scratches are easily repaired with this type of finish although a regular maintenance is required to keep it sealed against moisture and staining.
