Coach House Build Ep 11: Posi Joists, Drains & Underpin Work
We’re back on site after the Christmas & New Year break and it’s time to push the build on — starting with the posi joists for the warm roof. In this episode, me, Luke and Matt talk through the plan for our first week back, then I set out and install the posi joists, explaining why we use posi joists over traditional timber, and showing how they’re fixed correctly to the wall plate. Meanwhile, Matt and Luke crack on with the drain connection that was originally in the old utility, so we can finish the hardcore and get ready for sand blinding ahead of concrete. We also do a small underpin to better support the existing kitchen wall that will eventually take the load from the double steels in the old kitchen supporting the pitched roof.
