SEGA's Naomi 2 arcade board pushed the limits of arcade gaming when it released in 2000, bringing with it SEGA classics such as Virtua Fighter 4, Beach Spikers and the Initial D series. With improved performance over the original Naomi arcade board, including a dual CPU setup, a robust cooling solution had to be implemented. SEGA's solution was three fans, including a case fan and two CPU fans. While this solution worked as it should, over time, these fans degraded leading to excessive (and I mean excessive) noise. We'll take a look at the fans that make up the Naomi 2's cooling solution and the process of removing and replacing a set of worn out, noisy, CPU and case fans.
