Enjoy the drive through Historic Downtown Osceola Wisconsin, located in the heart of the River Valley. Originally, the area was inhabited by the Sioux Indian Tribe, but soon the Chippewa Tribe arrived and chased them out of the area. Not long after that the European traders and explorers began to arrive. Originally, this town was named LeRoy after LeRoy Hubbard who was the first white man killed cutting lumber for the sawmill. In March 1859 the town was first called Osceola to honor the Seminole Indian Chief. The Chief hoped to bring peace between the American Government and the Seminole Tribe by waving a white flag. The American Government didn't accept his surrender and murdered him. Europeans and Natives were outraged and towns across the nation officially changed their names to Osceola in dedication to the Chief. The Village of Osceola was incorporated on July 13, 1886. Until next time, enjoy the day!!! ***Be Sure To Click Like & Subscribe Support My Travels At: www.etsy.com/shop/NBPhotoArt Or Make A Donation At: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/nbpho...
