Pottering Around Parita- The Quaintest Town in Panama

Today I am taking you to a beautiful little town called Parita. A mere 2 hours and 10 minutes from home- what a pleasure. Parita is very near Chitré & was was founded in 1558. It is the oldest Hispanic settlement on the peninsula. Its origins actually go back to pre-Columbian days. The architecture in this tiny town provides visitors a look into Panama’s Spanish-colonial past, although there is little else in the town to amuse tourists. We are attending a horse contest which my husband is judging. We are passionate about horses, particularly the Peruvian's. We breed them on our ranch and this forms a huge part of our lives. The church featured in the video is the St. Dominic’s of Guzman Church in Parita which is a National Historic Monument built in 1556. This magnificent building is distinguished by an ornate tower and beautiful woodwork of its altar and frescoes. We stayed at the beautiful hotel called Cubitá- clean, neat and totally picturesque.It was indeed an educational, beautiful time shared in this little town. Thank you for watching!
