Campground Review - Lake Wooroonook. Charlton, Victoria

30 March 2024. I spent a few days at Lake Wooroonook near Charlton in Victoria, Australia. Co-ordinates -36.266172°, 143.194934° Pleasant surroundings. Lots of bird life. I stayed two nights on the opposite side to the new facilities, which are pretty nice. Good showers. Powered sites on facility side. Was at least a dozen rigs set up on that side, which I thought was a bit smelly from the soft mud and weeds that was built up in that area. I wouldn't swim in the designated area myself. I had neighbours about 200m one side of me and maybe 300m the other side of me. Quite peaceful. Lots of bird life. Water is nice to look at and even wade into, but it's very shallow to fish or swim, unless you had a boat out in the middle I guess. A few flies, mozzies at night. Bit windy, but not too bad. I rode my bike around the three lakes that actually make up this area. Plenty of roos and wallabies.
