I'm from Lexington, Massachusetts, cradle of Liberty, which is what we're trying to do here, is maintain the liberty in our country. I'm a retired special education teacher. I'm here not only for my own grandchildren, but for the children of the world that are being impacted by the decisions that are made by this illegal taking over of our country. I'm concerned about my granddaughter not having the same rights over her body that I've had in my lifetime. And we have to stop the coup and we're ready to march now. We're going to march." 3. One is the billionaire takeover of our government, which is the culmination of a decades long struggle by billionaires to line their own pockets. And second, it's the fact that this current administration is enacting a policy of dehumanization on so many of our community members." 7. Pan, left of marching protesters 8. And what's motivating so many of us is, again, fighting for working people across this country, fighting for our immigrant brothers and sisters, our queer and trans and indigenous siblings, and making sure that, you know, we are holding Democratic lawmakers accountable for really using every single tool in the toolbox from the federal, local and state level to fight against this billionaire takeover of the government. And also, to say that, you know, we can't rely on our lawmakers to save us. STORYLINE: Hundreds of protesters marched through downtown Boston Thursday, as a coalition of more than 100 organizations united to demonstrate against what they described as a "billionaire takeover" of government and Trump administration policies. The demonstration began at the nation’s oldest public park, the Boston Common. The protest brought together groups focused on issues ranging from climate justice and criminal legal system reform to immigrants' rights and workers' rights. Protesters repeatedly chanted: “Stop the coup. Stop the coup. Stop the coup.” Organizers reported that more than 1,000 people had RSVP'd for the event. Protesters included Diane Bleier, a retired special education teacher from Lexington, Massachusetts. Organizers emphasized the grassroots nature of the movement, calling for action beyond traditional political channels.
