STORYLINE: Hundreds of protesters marched through downtown Boston Thursday, as a coalition of more than 100 organizations united to demonstrate against what they described as a "billionaire takeover" of government and Trump administration policies. The demonstration began at the nation’s oldest public park, the Boston Common. The protest brought together groups focused on issues ranging from climate justice and criminal legal system reform to immigrants' rights and workers' rights. Protesters repeatedly chanted: “Stop the coup. Stop the coup. Stop the coup.” Organizers reported that more than 1,000 people had RSVP'd for the event. Protesters included Diane Bleier, a retired special education teacher from Lexington, Massachusetts. Organizers emphasized the grassroots nature of the movement, calling for action beyond traditional political channels.
