Filmed in Ghuramatti, a small village about 20 km from Belgaum city, Karnataka — where the rhythm of life moves with the herds and the wind. The landscape here holds stories — of people, wool, and work — written in silence and dust. Ghuramatti is also where Shivaranjan.V, the artist and a friend, lives and works out of his studio Kaalmari — drawing from this land and its people, translating their rhythm into felt. I shot this film on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera (OG) #bmpccog with #dzofilm Linglung lenses - a camera I’ve used for nearly a decade. Without a doubt, it can be frustrating to use with all its limitations, but it slows me down and makes me think. I often return to this camera for its texture and honesty. Its image feels raw yet intimate — with smooth highlight roll-off, subtle tonal transitions, and a color science that feels alive. There’s something about its look that I can’t quite describe — something I don’t find in my 4K or 6K models. It felt perfect for the quiet, tactile world of Ghuramatti, where everything breathes at its own pace. The film takes its name from Dhunki — the sound that emerges during the carding of wool, a bow’s soft twang echoing through the artist’s world. This short film is my humble attempt to trace that rhythm — from silence to felt. Huge thanks to Shivu, the shepherds, and everyone who welcomed me into their world. And a huge shoutout to Simon from Neogray Films@NEOGRAYFILMS sharing his beautiful SIXTYFIVE (Kodak Eastmancolor–inspired) PowerGrade and helping me through the process.
