Student 2: It’s to be able to choose our own dictator… Student 3:I’m so free, I don’t even have to answer that... Student 4:What if Freedom was something completely different Now why do we love “freedom” so much? Ok let me be more precise, to show how much we love it. Imagine seeing, an Elephant in a zoo. Sounds exciting? Not really. That’s why it costs around 40 bucks. Now...imagine, seeing an Elephant in the wild...THAT’S COOL. And people would easily pay: 2000 bucks for this experience. So why pay almost 2000 bucks more to ultimately see the same thing: An elephant. Because it’s not the same elephant. The left One is in a cage. The right one is free. The one in the cage is probably looked after by vets. But the other one is free. The one in the cage doesn’t have to worry about hunters. But the other one is free. The one in the cage doesn’t have to worry about food. But the other one is free. Freedom is like a magnificent crown that makes a woman a queen and a man a king. Freedom is beautiful. So what can we do to be free? If we go back to our initial story...how can we get out of the cage and take off? Well, bad news. We can’t. Just like the elephant can’t free itself, we can’t free ourselves. Many people will tell you to do good things or to improve yourself to get free. But that’s not true. That’s what you call religion. What you need is the truth. Because the truth will set you free. Have a look at this... Do you think that the main message of the Bible is to do good to your neighbour. Well that’s what religious people want us to believe, but...The “Do Good”- mantra is the drum beat to which all religions dance. Do good and you will be happy...engineer your own happiness. Jesus Christ stands in contrast to all of them. That’s why they hated him so much. Yes he said love your neighbour, ….but only after being born again. So what can we do to be born again? Nothing. You can do absolutely nothing. You and I are helplessly lost and we can’t do anything about it. Period. But God has done something. The Bible says: God did what religion could not do (Romans 8:3). And let’s look at it step by step. WHAT IS FREEDOM
