Does your 3rd Gen Camaro / Firebird have problems with venting fuel vapor through the fuel tank overpressure vent and boiling / gurgling sounds from the fuel tank? My car did. It also had trouble with hot idle in traffic. When the fuel was hot it wouldn't idle properly. In this video I walk through tests on the fuel tank vent and purge system and successful results. Also, a new problem came up with the idle, where the car wouldn't idle after being parked for a short time after an hour or so drive on a warm to hot day. After some work on all the critical systems, I found the new IAC valve to be defective. Background: This is a "Barn find" 1985 IROC-Z Z28 Camaro with Tuned Port (TPI) LB9 engine that had been parked in the same spot without running for 25 years. The original owner passed away and his father sold the car to me. It has just over 101,000 miles with virtually no rust on the body, very unusual for spending its life in Michigan. This series starts at the beginning and runs through what it has taken to make this car run again. It will continue as I work through continuing to make the car road worthy and bring it back to its former glory. If you like these videos, please like and subscribe so you can follow the ongoing work.
