Talk about using destination dispatch in a building with one of the most confusing floor numbering system I've seen, as well as next to no help from the floor directories! Thank God the lift lobby is big and out of the way of any reception / security, because what you guys didn't get to see before I started this take was a solid 20 minutes of us just punching in numbers trying to find an unlocked floor that wouldn't lead directly to a reception desk! Certainly doesn't help that the lobby is level 4 and the carpark is level 3… 😅🙄 That said, these are quite amazing, and definitely an unexpected find! The tower itself is from 2002, which seems about right for a Miconic 10 install. The elevators themselves I can only assume are 700 P (I don’t think the 7000 had been out at that time), and inside they’ve been fitted with M-Series buttons and an LCD indicator that actually wasn’t working in the first car I got! Also, it seems that the handicap function activates the voice unit, but unlike the PORTs in the PwC Tower, the elevators don’t have one activated by default. These are some VERY nice elevators — probably one of the best Miconic 10s I’ve ridden so far, but also one of the most confusing. There was a Chinese couple (here long before us) who were kinda confused on the layout of the lifts as well as where to go (I don’t blame them 💀) — they followed us down to L3 and then back up to L4! After I ended the take I did help them out as I could speak Mandarin. At the end of the video, you could see the service elevator of the building. The call buttons are usually hidden behind a cabinet but today it was left ajar so I could call the elevator! This one looked very unique — the outside lantern basically resembles a classic M-Series scrolling dot-matrix indicator, and the COP indicator is segmented which you don’t see often at all in NZ! I didn’t ride it because a) I wasn’t sure about lockouts and I didn’t want to be trapped on a floor I’m not supposed to be on, and b) considering how high-class this building is, if I got caught in the service elevator, it would NOT be good at all… Video 28/64 from Auckland (03/1/23 – 07/1/23).
