How We Monitor Patients During Anesthesia 💉🩺 Step one of any anesthesia procedure is making sure the patient is fully monitored. My wife volunteered to be the patient in this video so I can show you how it’s done: Pulse oximeter: This monitors oxygen levels. EKG stickers: These monitor heart rhythm, placed in a triangle pattern to sense how the heart is functioning. Blood pressure cuff: Blood pressure can drop during anesthesia, so we monitor it every 5 minutes to ensure stability. Nasal cannula: This provides oxygen and allows us to monitor CO2 levels to check how well the patient is breathing. By the way, my wife's heart rate is 39 beats per minute—that’s bradycardia, but it's completely normal for her because she's a former ballerina in amazing shape. We simply adjust the monitor alarms to reflect that. Have questions about how we keep you safe during anesthesia? Feel free to send me a DM or contact us via the link on our page for more info! 💙✨
